Inspector of Schools
Secondary education is governed by the Inspectorate of schools in the District.
The office of the Inspector of Schools, MDC ,Morigaon was set up in Feb/ 92 which was carved out of the erstwhile Nagaon District Circle.
There are Secondary schools having classes from VI to X , VI to XII , IX to X and IX to XII .
The main function of this office is to ensure overall improvement of secondary education in the District. At present there are 66 nos. of provincialised secondary schools,68 nos. of recognised secondary schools, 8 nos. of Jr. college, 6 nos. of Sr. Madrassa, 3 nos. of recognised Sr. Madrassa and 14 nos. of venture secondary schools.
The secondary schools and Jr. colleges which are recognised upto 31-12-2005 have been under purview of provincialisation as per Assam Venture Educational Institutions (Provincialisation of Services) Act,2011.
Quality education can be imparted only when adequate infrastructural facilities including trained teachers are provided to the schools. The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) gets used to issue academic calendar and school routine for management of academic matter in respect of class IX and X while Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) regulates and manages the academic aspects at +2 stage including organising HS final examination.
There is a School Management and Development Committee(SMDC) duly constituted as per the Govt. rules and procedures which is responsible for management and development of school activities.
All the secondary schools (provincialised) were provided building grant under Buniyad Scheme during 2005-06 . Also, nonrecurring girls common room grant under SCCP/ TSP area, nonrecurring book grant, girls common room under TFC grant, model school building grant, drinking water facility, etc have been provided for improvement of infrastructural facilities in the secondary schools of the District
Rastriya Madhyamic Siksha Abhijan (RMSA) is running in the District. Annual grant for different activities and grants for additional class room, science laboratory, etc have been released to the secondary schools to meet up the short fall of infrastructure . Also, grants under Multi Sectoral Development Programme (MSDP) and Prime Minister’s Adarsha Gramya Yojanana (PMAGY) have been sanctioned to the schools which satisfy the norms under the programme.
The office of the Inspector of Schools is headed by Inspector of Schools and he is assisted by following officers /staff.
